LUKOIL Overseas is carrying out its activities in the WEEM and Meleiha concessions in close cooperation with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC)
LUKOIL is a partner in the Meleiha production concession (Western Desert) with a contract validity period to 2024. Meleiha is one of LUKOIL’s first foreign production projects. In 1995, the Company joined the project as part of the Russian-Italian JV Lukagip. LUKOIL’s current share in the concession is 24%. Other participants in the project are ENI (56%) and Mitsui (20%). Proven remaining oil reserves in the block exceed 30 million barrels of oil equivalent. Over the recent years the additional exploration activities, including 3D seismic and exploration drilling, resulted in discovery of several highly productive fields: Northern Nada and Gawaher (2007), Arcadia (2010), Emry Deep (2012) and Rosa North (2013) where currently industrial oil production is underway.
About 1.2 million tons of oil were produced in 2012 (LUKOIL's share was 71,000 tons).
